Biography:
Paul joined HCCUA as Deputy Underwriter in January 2004. He joined from AIG Europe UK Ltd (part of the American Insurance Group) where he was Primary Casualty Underwriting Manager with responsibility for a team of underwriters and assistants in London and for Casualty teams across the United Kingdom.

Paul has worked in the London insurance market since 1992. Prior to that, he joined Royal Insurance (UK) Ltd's graduate training scheme in 1985. During his career he has also held positions with Zurich Municipal Insurance and with GE Frankona Re where he was team leader for the Facultative and Direct Liability team. Paul has overall responsibility for the UK Liability account at HCCUA.

Biography:
John joined HCCUA as CAR underwriter in December 2007.John has over 30 years experience in construction and engineering underwriting world wide. He joined from Munich Re where he was underwriting consultant.

He was previously development underwriter at AXA Insurance where he focused on generating new business and broker relationships in South Wales, Bristol, Gloucester and the South West.

Prior to this John was principal underwriter and manager of the National Vulcan London underwriting rooms and after the merger of the Royal and Sun Alliance became major projects manager in the new reinsurance department.

Biography:
David joined HCCUA London as Casualty Underwriter in November 2010 to develop new business opportunities in both Lloyds and with both regional and national in the Southern Region.

David has over 10 years working in the London Market and joins after 5 years at Zurich Insurance plc where he held the position of Market Underwriter (Casualty) and was responsible for broker development, generation of new business and the handling of existing business.

Prior to this David was a Multinational Business Underwriter with Chubb Insurance and has previous experience working as an underwriter with both Travellers and at Eagle Star.

Biography:
Julian joined HCCUA in August 2004 in order to establish HCCIS and is based at HCCIS’s Newcastle office. Julian has over 15 years experience of underwriting liability risks, ranging from small UK based firms to large overseas corporations. Prior to joining HCCUA Julian was a Senior Liability Underwriter at Munich-American Risk Partners. Previously he has worked for AIG Europe (UK) and Royal & SunAlliance.

Biography:
Helen joined HCC Insurance Services in Newcastle in February 2006 and is responsible for handling UK Liability/CAR business presented to HCC's service company by regional brokers.

Prior to joining HCCIS Helen was the Deputy Regional Underwriter at Ecclesiastical Insurance Company in Newcastle. Helen has over 20 years commercial underwriting experience which has been acquired through a variety of underwriting and broking roles, including positions at Royal & SunAlliance and Aon.

Biography:
Chris Ashmead joined the Bridgend office of HCC Insurance Services in October 2006 to service the regional offices of national brokers based in South Wales and the South West.

He was previously development underwriter at AXA Insurance where he focused on generating new business and broker relationships in South Wales, Bristol, Gloucester and the South West.

Prior to this he was a loss management executive at Willis Ltd and began his insurance career at Guardian Insurance where he held roles as a personal lines underwriter and later as a commercial underwriter.

Biography:
Stephen joined HCCUA as a Liability Surveyor in December 2008. He joined from Fusion Insurance Services Ltd (part of the Towergate group) where he was a Risk Control Surveyor since 2004.

Stephen has worked in insurance since 1987 when he joined the claims department within Royal Insurance (UK) Ltd. In 1994 he moved across to their survey department as a Risk Management Consultant.

Stephens’s role within HCCUA means he is the eyes and ears of the underwriters. It is his job to understand the risk exposures faced by policyholders and their staff, and to help them to manage these. His role takes him the length and breadth of the UK.

Biography:
John Shepherd joined HCCUA in November 2005 to head the commercial motor operation. He was previously Class Underwriter – Fleet at Equity Red Star with responsibility for the development of fleet account, recruitment and broker relationship management. John’s experience also includes more than 15 years with big composite insurers Prudential and GAN before he entered the Lloyd’s market. John places a firm emphasis on providing a high quality claims service married to HCCUA’s existing record for innovation and experience.

Geoff joined HCCUA's Commercial Motor team in January 2006 from Equity Red Star Motor Policies where he was City Fleet Manager, having previously been Fleet Underwriter at Shead Motor Policies at Lloyd’s. He has 20 years experience in motor insurance, including experience gained in the motor insurance broking field.

Biography:
Russell is one of the founders of HCCUA. Prior to starting HCCUA, Russell was Chief Executive Officer of EULER Trade Indemnity PLC, a position that he assumed in 1998 having previously been Finance Director. He joined the insurance industry in 1990.

Biography:
Bill joined HCCUA in January 2004 as its Finance Director. Prior to joining HCCUA, Bill was a Director of Omni Whittington Capital Management Ltd.

Before joining Omni Whittington in July 2000, Bill was Finance Director at Trafalgar Underwriting Agencies Limited where, upon the reorganisation of syndicate management within the Duncanson & Holt Group, he became Manager of Syndicate 1101.

Previous positions include Audit Manager at Arthur Young and Manager of Finance & Accounting for Centrewrite Limited, a subsidiary of the Corporation of Lloyd's.

Ian Rowles joined HCC Claims Services Ltd from Equity Red Star, where he was Claims Development Manager. With over 30 years’ experience in the motor claims industry, Ian was responsible for overseeing the establishment of HCC Claims Services Ltd, HCCUA’s in-house claims operation based at a dedicated facility in Bridgend, South Wales. Prior to joining Equity Red Star in 1998, Ian spent 23 years at AXA Insurance PLC.

Biography:

Before joining Brit in 2000, David was a regulatory officer within the Underwriting Agents Department at Lloyd’s.
